Morning tea with IHealthE

Dirty data: The quest for meaningful datasets

Please join us as Tyree IHealthE’s pillar leaders discuss: How can we transform dirty data to support the future of healthcare innovation?

Driving future healthcare innovation often relies on applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques. However, data collected in biomedical and healthcare research is often “dirty”. What this means is that data is usually gathered from multiple sources and standardisation across these is often poor, or non-existent.

Biomedical scientists and engineers spend vast amounts of time cleaning, annotating, harmonising, and curating datasets, tasks that are time consuming and prone to human error. Building clean datasets that permit application of AI and ML for healthcare innovation remains a significant challenge. Join us in conversation with two of Tyree IHealthE’s leaders as they address the question: How can we transform dirty data to support the future of healthcare innovation?

Our presenters
Dr Beena Ahmed
, Senior Lecturer in Signal Processing and Technology Lead, Connected Health Research Pillar.
Dr Daniel Moses, Director of Medical Imaging, SESLHD and Medical Lead Image Analytics Research Pillar.

The morning teas are a chance to get together and hear experiences and lessons from a range of speakers, meet the Tyree IHealthE team, and have plenty of time for questions and discussion. Please bring a cup of tea and we will supply the cake. Everyone is welcome to attend.
